Buba's 3rd Birthday Party

Buba's 3rd Birthday Party

We had such a good time at Buba's party! It was a huge success! We had so many awesome details, the kids had such a good time, and we were surrounded by so many people that love Buba!  I couldn't wait to show you all the wonderful details that we put together for his party!
Enjoy!

(Poster Board of pictures or Buba on & with trains throughout the year)

For the second year in a row we had a problem with the weather! The last two years the forecast has gone back and forth between sunshine and rain. We went back and forth, unsure if we were going to be able to have the party in our backyard or if we were going to need to cram everyone into our house! It rained off and on all morning the day of his party. We cleaned our house up really nice just in case we needed to have everyone inside, hoping that the weather would break and would let us go outside. It came time to set up for the party, and the weather had not broken so I began to set up inside. I swear, almost immediately the weather started getting better, and unfortunately the things I set up inside may not have been viewed as much as I would have liked, but that's okay! Everything was beautiful and perfect!

So when I started setting up inside the first thing I set up was my slideshow video filled with pictures of Buba throughout the year and a bunch of really cute songs to go with! I also had framed one of his birthday pictures that we did at Union Station, and hung some train garland I made with my Silhouette Cameo. I also made a railroad crossing sign that said "Birthday Crossing"

Next we had our "Luggage drop off" for people to drop presents off at & our "Baggage Claim" that had Train hats, Red Bandanna & Train Whistles for the kids as our party favor.

Because of starting setting up inside & then moving it outside last minute, we didn't have a ton of decorations outside, but what we did have was SO ADORABLE!

But to make up for the lack of actual decoration outside we had a couple fun activities outside that made it seem plenty festive!

One of the activities we had was Cardboard trains for the kids to wear and act like they were the trains! This was a huge hit especially with the younger kids at the party!

Another fun thing we had out in the yard was our photo booth train!

My husband and I spray painted a couple big cardboard boxes and put them together to form a train. The kids thought it was so much fun especially because we put our bubble machine in the smoke stack and had bubbles be the train smoke! There was even a place in back for the kids to "Shovel Coal" into the train!

I set up a cute little table for the kids and we pulled out the grill and my husband cooked up some hot dogs and hamburgers. We also had a little food train set up with walkers favorite fruits and some popcorn (another walker favorite!) For beverages we had water and root beer with signs that said "Water Tower" and "Diesel Fuel"

My Mom is an amazing cake maker and she whipped up some awesome cakes for his party! I like doing cupcakes at parties because its easier and you don't have to spend time cutting up and serving the cake. BUT I also love the cuteness of cakes, so my awesome mother made a #3 cake as well!

Then of course we had a pinata! Buba was so excited about this! He picked it out himself and spent DAYS talking about it leading up to his party! His eyes would light up at the very mention of it, and it seemed to live up to the hype!

To close out the party we ended with this awesome activity that was all thanks to my mom! She made these trains for the kids to paint out of toilet paper rolls and the kids LOVED THEM! I cant believe they turned out so adorable!!!

The party was such a success! I know that Buba had the time of his life & I hope everyone who attended enjoyed it as much as we did! Happy Birthday Buba! Here's to another great year!

Here's a pics of Buba & Sissy in the cute train party hats I made!

All About Buba

Buba's 3rd Birthday

Three years ago my life forever changed! I can't believe how quickly time has passed me by! My sweet little baby boy is already 3 and I don't know where the time has gone! In honor of his 3rd birthday I decided to make a post all about buba! Hope you enjoy!

I was 21 almost 22 when I found out I was pregnant with Buba. I was living with the love of my life planning our April wedding and working as a cosmetologist at the time. I had to keep calling into work sick and so the women I worked with became convinced that I was pregnant and told me to go home and take a pregnancy test. I was sure I wasn’t pregnant, but I humored them and went home and took a test… sure enough it was positive. My parents had already purchased me an expensive dress so we planned a wedding in 30 days and were married within the month! Buba was our surprise baby, but we couldn't have been more excited.

I had a rocky pregnancy from the get go. I had terrible morning sickness, which led to me quitting my job. This was followed by tons of weight gain, water retention, and gestational diabetes that we never were able to get under control. I believe that is what led to my pre-term labor

I was almost 35 weeks when I began to have contractions in the middle of the night. Figuring they were Braxton Hicks contractions I tossed and turned through the night. As they became more frequent and grew closer together I began to believe I was actually in labor. When my husband woke for work I told him and he figured they were probably just braxton hicks, I called my mom and she said the same thing, but the both agreed that we should go in just to be sure. My husband headed to work and my parents took me to the hospital.

They immediately admitted me, and told me I was for sure in labor. They gave me steroid shots to boost his lung development and began trying to stop my labor. My husband raced home and we spent the next two days in the hospital trying to keep him in my tummy just a little longer. We were unable to stop my labor and Buba was born 6 weeks early.

I had an epidural, and had a quick delivery because the doctor helped things along because they weren't sure what state he would be in being born so early. They laid him on my chest for exactly three seconds before they whisked him off to the NICU where he spent the next 2 weeks of his life.

The day he came home was one of the best days of my life!

We watched our baby grow over the next year and he was our entire lives! He was such a miracle and brought such joy into our hearts.

He was wide eyed and loved to explore and before we knew it, it was his first birthday! We had a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party because that was his favorite TV show!

We continued to watch him grow through the next year and were amazed by how much he learned and how much he grew. He continued to be curious and became a brave little dare devil! He was excited by every new experience! We loved our boy so much that we knew we wanted a sibling for him!

And just like that it was his second birthday! That year his favorite show was Peppa Pig so we had a “Muddy Puddles and Birthday Bubbles” Party! (With a real muddy puddle!)

This last year has been incredible! I cant believe how big he has gotten! He is so beautiful and kind and has such an amazing heart! He is so smart and has the best imagination! He became a big brother this year and he has loved it! He thinks his sister is amazing and he makes such a great big brother!

We had such a wonderful weekend celebrating our boy! We kicked it off with a new haircut, followed by lunch at Mcdonalds play for his birthday lunch. We then went to Union Station to see the trains (because he loves trains) and for birthday pictures. We had pizza for dinner (because he loves pizza) and sense he loves trains this year we had a Train themed Birthday!

We could not love Buba any more than we do! He is such a beautiful boy with his blonde hair and his baby blue eyes! He looks just like his daddy (even though I see some of mommy in there too) He may look just like his daddy, but he has his Mamma's soul. I have never met a 3 year old who was so sweet and compassionate! He is so well rounded, he loves his tools and his trucks but will also pick up a baby doll and love on it so sweetly. He loves music and arts and crafts but loves to play in the mud and is obsessed with sports! He has self taught himself all of his letters, his numbers 1-10 and even some of the letter sounds. He has a love for learning and cant wait to start preschool next year! I am amazed every day by this boy! He keeps my on my toes and he makes my heart so warm! I am so in love with the person he is becoming and I couldn't be more proud to be his mommy! Happy Third Birthday My Sweet Baby Boy! Mamma loves you!
